Chanice was on the home stretch of her landscaping project and wanted to add some street appeal to the crusty verge. An excavator took out six tonnes of dirt, but they still had to remove another tonne with a shovel—definitely underestimated how much needed to go! She decided to keep it simple with some bark under the tree, grasses with quartz, and a fresh patch of lawn.
As they were aiming for a low-maintenance approach, she chose water-wise plants. These Liandra Lime Tough plants thrive in full sun, require minimal water, and are incredibly easy to maintain while still looking beautiful. To further reduce upkeep, she chose a Platinum Weedmat by Pillar Products, ensuring a tidy and hassle-free landscape.
If there are areas with minimal planting or a need to suppress weeds, a Weedmat is essential—it’s designed to keep weeds at bay. Once that was in place, she added 10mm quartzite, which matches other areas of the property. There’s crushed quartzite in the backyard and 10mm quartzite at the front, giving the space a cohesive, polished look.
Next came the patch of grass. Initially, her husband was hesitant about it since it requires some upkeep, but with this small section, they were able to position a 360° rainhead sprinkler on the opposite side of the path. This setup ensures low-maintenance, year-round greenery on a timer. Now, all that’s left is to wait for it to grow lush and full.
